It's the original, the disrupter, the best pump, and it's now back in stock! The WMFG 4.0 Tall Pumps are here in stock and ready to ship!
Everyone loves the WMFG 4.0 tall pumps because they are in fact taller than standard stock pumps allowing for less bending down and less pump strokes to pump up your massive light-wind kites as well as the option for either maximum volume (more air flow) on up and down strokes, or maximum pressure (for when the kite is mostly pumped and getting harder to pump) on down strokes only. This makes your pumping easier and more precise! Want 8 psi - get it easily and right on the dot following indicator on the attached gauge and do it easily by switching to the high pressure pump mode.
The pumps also come with attachments for all inflation valves currently on the market and some old inflation valve types. This might get your buddies out of a jam with attachments to pump up their cabrinha, slingshot, duotone, north, core etc. kites - probably earning you a beer along the way (this pump could theoretically pay itself in beer favours!)

]]>Topography: Local topography, such as hills, mountains, or buildings, can cause gusts as wind is funneled or deflected around these obstacles. This can create sudden changes in wind speed and direction, leading to gusts.
Thermal effects: Differences in temperature can create pressure differences in the atmosphere, leading to wind gusts. For example, when the sun heats up the ground, the air above it rises and is replaced by cooler air, creating a gust of wind.
Fronts: Wind gusts can occur when different air masses meet, such as with cold fronts or warm fronts. These changes in air pressure can cause sudden gusts of wind.
Thunderstorms: Gusts of wind can occur during thunderstorms, particularly in the vicinity of downdrafts or outflow boundaries. These gusts can be very strong and can cause damage to structures and vegetation.
Turbulence: Turbulence in the atmosphere can cause gusts of wind, particularly in areas of high wind shear or wind gradient. This is often the case in the vicinity of mountains or other topographical features.
Lots of factors create wind gusts, having ample depower available on your trim-line allow kiteboarders to safely absorb gusts. Picking the right kite size is important in very gusty conditions as riding too big of a kite will cause a rider to be over-powered and not allow anymore depower when hit by wind gusts and the proverbial tea-bagging may occur!

]]>There are a variety of different wind models that have been developed over the years. Some of the most common ones include:
Global models: These models use complex algorithms to predict wind behavior on a global scale. They take into account a variety of factors, including temperature, pressure, and the rotation of the Earth, to create a comprehensive model of wind behavior around the world.
Regional models: These models are more focused on specific regions and use more detailed data to create predictions about wind behavior. They may take into account local topography, such as mountains and valleys, which can affect wind patterns.
Mesoscale models: These models are even more detailed and are used to predict wind behavior at a much smaller scale. They may take into account features such as coastlines, lakes, and other bodies of water to create a more accurate prediction.
Microscale models: These models are used to predict wind behavior at a very small scale, such as within a few meters of the ground. They may take into account features such as buildings and other structures that can affect wind patterns.
Wind models can be used for a variety of purposes, such as predicting weather patterns, determining the best flight path for airplanes, and planning shipping routes. They are also used by wind energy companies to determine the best locations for wind turbines, as well as to predict how much energy a particular turbine will produce. By accessing various wind models, kiteboarders can make more informed decisions about how to interact with the wind.

]]>In the case of wind speed, the Venturi effect can occur when wind is forced through a narrow channel, such as a canyon or a gap between buildings. As the wind flows through the channel, its speed increases and its pressure decreases, according to the Bernoulli's principle. This is because the same amount of air has to pass through a smaller space, resulting in a faster flow of air.
This effect can be observed in many situations, such as when a strong wind blows through a narrow opening in a building or when wind is channeled through a mountain pass. In both cases, the wind speeds up as it passes through the constriction, leading to an increase in wind speed on the other side.
The Venturi effect can also be used to increase wind speed artificially. For example, in wind turbines, the blades are shaped like airfoils, which work to accelerate the flow of air as it passes over them. This results in a decrease in pressure and an increase in wind speed, which is then used to generate electricity.
Overall, the Venturi effect can cause an increase in wind speed in certain situations, and this effect can be harnessed to generate energy or observed in natural phenomena such as increased wind speeds between mountain ridges.
]]>When a hydrofoil is moving through the water, the hydrofoils create lift as the water flows over and under them. This lift force counteracts the weight of the rider and lifts the board out of the water, reducing drag and allowing the rider to move more efficiently. The hydrofoils are shaped like airfoils, with a curved upper surface and a flat or slightly curved lower surface, which creates a pressure difference that generates lift.
The angle of attack, or the angle at which the hydrofoil meets the water, is an important factor in generating lift. If the angle is too shallow, the hydrofoil will not generate enough lift and the board will not lift out of the water. If the angle is too steep, the hydrofoil will generate too much lift and the board may become unstable or breach the water surface causing a crash.
Hydrofoils can be used in a variety of watercraft other than kiteboarding, from high-speed racing boats to sailboats and surfboards. In addition to reducing drag and increasing speed, hydrofoils can also improve stability and control, as they lift the hull out of the water and reduce the effects of waves and turbulence.
In summary, hydrofoils work by creating lift as water flows over and under them, which counteracts the weight of the rider/boat and lifts the boat or hull out of the water, reducing drag and increasing efficiency. The angle of attack is a key factor in generating lift, and hydrofoils can be used in a wide variety of watercraft to improve speed, stability, and control.

]]>As the low setting sun was reflecting on the water and singeing my retinas I quickly realized that when kiteboarding I can remove one hand from the bar to cover the sun while I use the other hand to steer the kite. This was suddenly an impossible technique as both hands are pretty much always required on an Eleveight WFS wing (and all other wings). The polarized Lip Typhoon sunglasses provide protection from harmful UV rays and dramatically reduce glare from the water because of the lenses' polarization. The vented frame also allows for maximum ventilation to reduce potential fogging and drainage for those hard crashes. Let's not forget the MOST important feature of the sunglasses, the LIP sunglasses exclusive fail-safe leash & retainer system, because let's be honest we crash often and losing a pair of sunglasses on every crash would not be feasible.
Going winging? Going kiteboarding? Don't forget to grab a pair of LIP Typhoon Watersports Sunglasses!

TEST TEAM NOTES:
This is our second season testing the Master and, while Eleveight say they’ve re-designed it from the ground-up, they are still truly hitting the bullseye when it comes to all-round performance levels. Their marketing headline may boast that ‘The Master is a high-performance freeride to freestyle twin-tip for riders with a powerful style, to boost staggeringly big airs and send handle-pass tricks’, but don’t overlook this board if you’re not quite at that level. The Master’s upgraded, clean look is incredibly tidy this year and the board itself can deliver an accessible ride to a broad array of ability levels.
This is one of those boards that if you walk into a shop and really like the look of it, you should probably save yourself shopping headaches, buy it and just go riding. Usually competitively priced, the Master is strong but adequately light and there are no water conditions or situations that it will feel out of place in.

]]>Before getting too deep into the review the following updates were made for the 2021 Eleveight OS kite:
Following the feedback of kiteboarders all over the world, we made some upgrades to the OS. We started by decreasing the aspect ratio while adding more sweep to the wingtips. These adjustments highly improved stability, especially in stronger winds and gusts. Testing the latest performance-materials, we replaced the regular XT fabric with the innovative Extreme Light High-Tenacity fabric (XT LIGHT), a brand new material that is lighter yet stronger. We also used this material in our completely reworked trailing edge, which we equipped with anti-vibration patches, effectively reducing flutter. Making those modifications, we were able to develop a much sturdier kite that is even lighter than before. Hence it is more agile and covers a wider wind range.
KiteSurfing Mag Review:
SIZES TESTED (M): 8, 12 / SIZES AVAILABLE (M): 6, 8, 10, 12, 14
CONTROL SYSTEM: CS VARY CONTROL BAR
SYNOPSIS
An ultra light weight, single strut design with reactive handling, quick pivotal turns and exceptional light wind performance.
THE GOOD STUFF
The OS is the newest model of Eleveight’s impressive 2020 lineup and stands as their new light wind series kite with the focus on light wind handling and low end power. The OS features a mid swept hybrid canopy that’s made light and reactive with a single central strut and Eleveight’s use of Techno Force’s X4 canopy cloth and XT leading edge and strut material. Eleveight has had an impressive rise in the kite industry over the past few season with a full range of great performing kites and boards. Now with a new foil set up and light wind series of kites, Eleveight has all the bases covered for every discipline, wind condition and riding style. The test team was impressed with the OS handling and low end power as it rivalled some of the best single strut kites in the test. All of Eleveight’s kites come with an adjustable bridle setting which alters the turning axis point and handling. We found the OS works best on the high depower, pivotal turns setting, which gives the OS the quickest depower with lighter touch steering and quick pivotal turning. The OS has easy to find power with its swept leading edge and mid aspect ratio canopy providing a big sweet spot and smooth delivery. Easy sheet in and go performance and quick reactivity to turn initiation, the OS generates some smooth consistent pull in the turns and has reactive and intuitive handling that is perfect for foil board cruising and carving turns. Anyone looking to capitalize on light winds and expand their foil riding skills should consider the OS a top choice.
TRADE OFF
Like any single strut design, with high amounts of depower the OS will produce some flutter and lose some handling ability in the upper wind range or when its sheeted out fully on the edge of the wind.
GOOD FOR
Any level of rider that wants to advance foil skills or freeride in less wind with a stable, nicely powered and quick turning kite.

Well Eleveight produced this handy little image that gives you an idea of the type of the type of riding style suited for each of Eleveight's Kite models.
(It's a big image, hopefully it displays just as well on your desktop computer as a smartphone...fingers crossed).
This image is quite simplified, it doesn't necessarily mean that one kite can't be used if it doesn't overlap a specific discipline. For example the award winning FS freestyle kite could still be used for wave conditions, but when compared to the WS you will quickly see a significant difference in the performance characteristics that make the wave-riding specific WS kite perfect for slashing waves. Conversely trying to do handle-pass tricks with the WS kite might require a lot more skill and muscle to get yourself to the bar and pass it around your back when compared to the FS.
Please don't hesitate to contact us at shredkiteboarding@gmail.com for any inquiries. We will be happy to answer your questions and put you on the best Eleveight Kite for your riding style! If you now know what you want please go ahead and add one of these awesome kites available in our kite collection product page to your shopping cart!
